Schedule

Monday the 27th - Big Sur, Pebble Beach

Sunset over the ocean with orange and yellow sky, silhouetted trees on rocky shoreline, and birds flying across the water.

Big Sur is a beautiful area south of Corralitos, known for “winding turns, seaside cliffs, and views of the often-misty coastline.” We’ll drive on the famous Bixby Bridge, have lunch at the gorgeous Post Ranch Inn, and go for a few walks! Pulling over to take in the view along the road is very popular, so I’ve left plenty of time for these random stops!

8:00 AM: Coffee and pastries at TBD

9:00 AM: Walk at Pfeiffer Beach

10:30 AM: Shopping at Nepenthe

12:00 PM: Lunch at Sierra Mar at the Post Ranch Inn. This is an $85 prix-fixe meal. If you want something more casual, we recommend staying at Nepenthe and having lunch there- it’s good too!

3:00 PM: Walk at Garrapata Beach and Calla Lily Valley

4:00 PM: China Cove walk

5:00 PM: Cocktail and snack at The Inn at Spanish Bay

Tuesday the 28th - Santa Cruz

A colorful amusement park near the beach with a large wooden roller coaster, Ferris wheel, and carousel, against a backdrop of hills and palm trees during sunset.
Sunset view of a rocky coastline with a natural arch, green vegetation, and a lighthouse in the distance.

Santa Cruz is a funky surfing town where Celeste went to high school, and it’s filled with great restaurants, beaches, and shops.

9:00 AM: Coffee & snack at 11th Hour Coffee downtown (1001 Center St location)

9:45 AM-2:00 PM: Explore downtown Santa Cruz and have some lunch! Recommended picks:

Shops: Antique shopping at Tumbleweed Found, comics at Atlantis Fantasyworld, socks from The Sockshop, records from Offshore Sounds, stationery at Paper Vision, gifts at Homeless Garden Project Store, vintage clothes at Pastime, everything at Stripe, vintage clothes at Artifact Goods, records at Streetlight Records, women’s clothes at Pacific Trading Co., gifts at Artisans & Agency, Santa Cruz shirts at Pacific Wave, everything at Realm, gifts at Botanic and Luxe.

Food: Szechuan food at Fusion Fare Restaurant, vegan sushi at The Buzz Sushi, ice cream at Penny or Nico’s, matcha from Mad Yolks, vegetarian food at Pretty Good Advice, cookies at Pacific Cookie Company, kava at MeloMelo, Peruvian food at Oyuki, tamales at Gabrielita Tamaleria, Eritrean food at NahNa, sandwich at Zoccoli's, cocktails at Front & Cooper.

And if you don’t want to shop, I recommend the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History! Or relax in a hammock at Roxa Hammock cafe.

2:30 PM: Natural Bridges State Beach Tide Pools (We’ll revisit the exact time closer to the wedding to have the lowest tide possible!)

4:15 PM: Rum tasting at Makai on the Santa Cruz Wharf (over 500 different rums!), price $25 per person. Afterwards, we’ll take a walk and see the sea lions that live on the wharf!

Wednesday the 29th - Monterey Bay Aquarium, Carmel

Colorful sunset over a calm ocean with vibrant orange, red, purple, and blue clouds.
Mint and rosemary herbs in silver cups, with pink cocktail glasses and bowls of snacks in the background, on a marble countertop.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is incredible- great for kids and adults! We’ll do the Aquarium for a few hours, and then go over to Carmel, an adorable town famous for its architecture, great food, and shopping!

8:30 AM: Coffee and pastries at The Power Plant Coffee

10:00 AM: Aquarium opens! Explore the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Tickets are $65 per adult, $50 per child between the ages of 5-17, and free for children under the age of four. Be sure to buy those ahead of time here, as they can sell out!

12:30 PM: Leave the aquarium and head over to Carmel for lunch and shopping. Feel free to stay at the Aquarium if you want more time there and meet us in Carmel later!

1:00 PM: Lunch in Carmel. We recommend Toro Sushi, Stationæry, Rise + Roam Bakery and Pizzeria, or Mission Bistro! For a very special experience, book a table at Le Soufflé, but book early!

2:30 PM: Explore Carmel! Carmel has great shops and tasting rooms. Some recommendations:

Winery tasting rooms: Wrath (our absolute favorite!), Scheid, Windy Oaks, Chalone

Shops: The Cheese Shop, Somewhere (both locations!), Khaki’s, Halore, Dutch Door Donuts, Coast Carmel, Paloosh, Mad Dogs & Englishmen, Diggidy Dog, elizabethW, girl boy girl, Carmel Bay Company

If you’re not a wine person, we recommend a cocktail at Barmel (opens at 2PM) or at The Pocket (opens at 3:30PM)!

If you’re looking for a break from shopping, take a walk along Carmel Beach, famous for its soft white sand.

If you stick around for dinner, we recommend Cultura Comida y Bebida, Akaoni, Aubergine, The Pocket, Mission Bistro, or Toro.

Thursday the 30th - Corralitos Wine Tasting, Talent Show

A scenic rural landscape with vineyards on a hillside, a winding dirt road, trees, and a clear blue sky.

After a few pretty packed days, we’ll stick around locally in Corralitos, where Celeste grew up. While Corralitos may seem like just a small farming town (under 2,500 residents!), it’s becoming more and more famous in the wine world.

12:00 PM: Sausage and/or tritip sandwiches at the Corralitos Meat Market.

1:00 PM: Private wine tasting at Nicholson vineyards. Price $60 per person including gratuity.

3:00 PM: Private wine tasting at Alfaro vineyards. $25 per person.

5:00 PM: Talent show! The Corralitos Community Center hosts a weekly open mic night on Fridays that we absolutely love. We thought about how many of our guests are amazing musicians, performers, dancers, etc., and wanted to have an open mic night of our own! We’ll be providing dinner. Feel free to tell a story, perform some standup, recite a poem, sing a song- we appreciate all talents!

Friday the 1st - The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park

A lush green forest with tall trees, shrubs, and ferns surrounding a small, shaded creek at the bottom of a bank.

After a busy week, we thought we’d have a simple, relaxing day before the wedding. We’ll just be doing a walk in the local redwood forest.

10:30 AM: Walk in Nisene Marks State Park. The fee to park is $8, so bring cash! We’ll be doing a 2.2 mile loop called the Old Growth Loop, which passes by the largest redwood tree in the park, and crosses a beautiful creek. If you prefer, there are shorter hikes, or full day hikes. Here’s a guide to those.

And that’s it! Rest up for the wedding the next day! Or, if you’ve just arrived in Santa Cruz and want to explore, check out the guide to the area here. See you at the wedding!

Because many of these events have to be booked in advance, please make sure to RSVP here or text Celeste at (831) 535-8721 for whichever you’d like to attend! We’d love to get your RSVPs for these events by March 25th. Thank you!
